Biomarker Detection in Colorectal Cancer:
Integration of Clinical and Genomic Data

We have created an integrated laboratory information management system for clinical and genomic data in colorectal cancer. It provides an flexible secure web-based interface for data collection from multiple locations.

On the clinical side, restricted access and menus ensure HIPAA compliance and reduce errors. Genomic data acquisition and quality control is automated through PERL and CGI modules.

Bar-coding of samples at all times minimizes human error while ensuring anonymity of patient data. Clinical and genomic data is validated and stored in a MySQL database for integration and analysis.
