Daychin Campbell

Stanford Perinatal Programs
Palo Alto, CA

Daychin Campbell was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from the San Mateo County Prenatal Advantage Black Infant Health (BIH) Project at a State of California Black Infant Health Conference in February 2003. She has been a member of the Prenatal Advantage Advisory Group and a collaborating perinatal services provider since the project started in 1992. She has worked for the Mid-Coastal California Perinatal Outreach Program (MCCPOP) at Stanford since 1988.

At MCCPOP, Daychin has been instrumental in connecting community providers to the school and medical centers. During her tenure, she has served as Coordinator of the Resource Mothers program, a mentoring and support program for high-risk pregnant women. While coordinating this volunteer-based program, she also served as a mentor to several BIH clients, many times acting as labor coach at their births. She was active in the development and delivery of services on the hospital’s Mommy Van and the Kids Health Van. Currently, she is a community liaison for the various components of Stanford Perinatal Services including the Regional Perinatal Program, Diabetes and Pregnancy Program, California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.

For Prenatal Advantage Black Infant Health Project, she has been very effective in linking the project to Stanford Perinatal Services and other community resources. When it became evident that BIH clients needed child birth education classes on site, Ms. Campbell became trained as certified instructor. She teaches the child birth education classes and arranged the hospital tours to brief the clients on labor and delivery. She arranged for the project to present at several MCCPOP conferences, the medical school’s “Mommies & Babies” class, and the Junior League resource mothers training. In addition, she has participated in Prenatal Advantage's yearly "Celebrating Healthy Babies" event.
