The Stanford Vascular Medicine and Biology Training Grant offers highly qualified
Ph.D. and M.D., Ph.D. graduates the opportunity to train in vascular
biology and medicine. The trainees will work in the laboratories of
leading investigators in molecular and cellular vascular biology.
Six major interrelated research areas constitute the basic elements
of the training program. These are:
Angiogenesis
Vascular growth, remodeling, and hemodynamics
Cell-cell interaction: adhesion molecules
Vascular disorders due to lipoprotein and glucose metabolism
Genetic mechanisms of vascular disease
Gene targeting and therapy in vascular disease.
There are 30 faculty members involved, with expertise ranging from
biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, genetics, vascular physiology,
and human physiology.
