Cooke Lab  Dominates

Vascular Society meeting!

At the Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology Annual Scientific Session, 3 of our postdocs were selected as Finalists for the Young Investigators Competition.

  • Karsten Sydow presented on DDAH overexpression protects against the development of insulin resistance in a transgenic murine model
  • Katsuya Iijima on Cytomegalovirus impairs endothelial NOS pathway through induction of oxidative stress: Role of viral envelope protein
  • Nandini Nair on Proteomic Profiling of PAD - Towards a new diagnostic modality

The international YIA competition also included 3 other outstanding abstracts, from Emile Mohler's group at Penn, Tony Comerota's group of the Jobst Vascular Institute, and a group from the University of Bath in the UK.

After six outstanding presentations, the judges selected Karsten Sydow for 1st place, and Katsuya Iijima for 3rd.  The Penn abstract took 2nd place, preventing a Stanford sweep.

Congratulations to all 3 of our young investigators

for their hard work, and well-deserved recognition!
